AR Rahman sets the tune for Commonwealth Games 2010

New Delhi: It will be another 10 days before the Commonwealth Games theme song is officially launched but Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman today promised it would be worth the wait as his ‘Yaaro India bula liya’ would be unlike anything that has happened before.
The Group of Minister (GoM) on the Commonwealth Games approved the song at a meeting on Sunday.

1. What is sore eyes?
” Sore eyes” is a common term for an inflammation of the thin covering of the eyeball and the inner eyelid brought about by a viral infection which may be highly contagious.

Petrol, diesel, LPG price hike likely today

A ministerial panel may on Monday decide on raising petrol and diesel prices by up to Rs 3.50 a litre and domestic LPG rates by Rs 25-50 per cylinder, besides considering raising kerosene prices marginally.
The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM), headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, will meet on Monday afternoon to consider a Kirit Parikh Committee report that calls for freeing of petrol and diesel prices from government control, besides a steep hike in LPG and kerosene rates to cut the subsidy bill.

Clarke retains T20 captaincy

Michael Clarke retained captaincy of Australia’s Twenty20 squad, while fit-again batsman Shaun Marsh returned to their one-day fold for a tour of The British Isles starting June 17.

New Delhi: Cracking the whip on the errant Indian cricketers, the BCCI on Monday decided to issue show cause notice to them for their conduct during a pub bawl in St Lucia soon after the team’s humiliating exit from the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.
The BCCI has issued show cause notices to six players involved in a pub altercation during the World T20 tournament in the West Indies. Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Ravinder Jadeja and Piyush Chawla are the players involved.

Clarke excited by Aussie recovery

Bridgetown: Michael Clarke was excited about the way Australia recovered from a shaky position to trample Sri Lanka by 81 runs in the World Twenty20 on Sunday.
The Aussies followed up a rescue act from Cameron White with a polished performance in the field.

White struck half-dozen fours and half-dozen sixes in 85 from 49 balls, as Australia, electing to bat, wobbled to 67 for five before they recovered to reach 168 for five from their of 20 overs.

Work stress raises women’s heart disease risk

High pressure jobs like nursing can increase young women’s risk of heart disease and younger women appear to be more vulnerable, scientists said.
It is already known that having stressful or demanding jobs can lead to higher heart risks but previous research has largely focused on men. In this study, researchers from Denmark assessed the impact of work pressure and degree of personal influence in the workplace on the heart health of more than 12,000 nurses. The nurses were all aged between 45 and 64 in 1993, when they were questioned about daily work pressures and about how much they felt they had control over their work.

Short sleep ups risk of premature death

London, May 5 (IANS) People who sleep for less than six hours each night were 12 percent more likely to die prematurely than those who get the recommended six to eight hours.
The study by the University of Warwick and Federico II University Medical School, Italy, provides evidence of the direct link between short duration of sleep and an increased chance of dying prematurely.
