How to Kill Nail Spyware Infection
Nail.exe is a spyware program that uses pop up ads to annoy you.
1. Go into safe mode by repeatedly tapping F8 during the boot up of your computer, right before the windows loading splash screen shows up.
2. Use CTRL + ALT + DEL to open task manager
3. Then click on the PROCESSES TAB on task manager in the listing of tasks running on the computer find explorer.exe and click on it. Then click the END TASK button to close out this task.The desktop will disapear at this point.
4. In the task manager click FILE then click NEW TASK
5. Type CMD and then click ok this will open the COMMAND PROMPT
6. In the command prompt at the flashing I cursor type C:. This will take you to the root.
7. Now type c:\windows for some users it maybe c:\winnt
8. Now type CACLS nail.exe /t p everyone:n
9. Hit enter
10. You will now be prompted asking you are you sure you want to do this press “Y”
11. When the c:\windows returns type CACLS svcproc.exe /t /p everyone:n
12. Then hit enter
13. Once c:\windows returns with a blinking I cursor you can type exit.
14. In the TASK MANAGER click on file and then click on NEW TASK
15. Clear CMD command and type in REGEDIT
16. In the registry find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click the + next to it
17. Now click the + next to SYSTEM
18. Now click the + next to CurrentControlSet
19. Now click the + next to Services
20. Now find SVCPROC listed in services and delete it.
21. Reboot computer
22. Now in normal mode click on START
23. Click Run
24. Type in c:\windows (for some users this may be winnt)
25. In the windows directory find nail.exe and svcproc.exe
26. Click on one of the and press SHIFT then DELETE
27. Repeat for other file.
